There’s something special about finding the perfect book. But sometimes, the perfect book finds YOU. That’s what happened with me following divorce. Only, this time, the perfect book didn’t show up polished and packaged with a beautiful cover and perfect prose. It showed up as personal transformation that challenged the very core of who I thought I was.
I had gotten “comfortable” with my life and thought my only battle was the occasional loneliness I felt. Turns out, that loneliness was taking the lead in more ways than I realized.
That revelation led me to pray the loneliness away. I asked God to just take my longing for connection. It was causing me to make decisions I was ashamed of, and it created a gaping hole in me that I couldn’t escape.
But God said “no.” He said, “I gave you that longing, but it’s for me.”
Does that mean I shouldn’t desire connection with people? Absolutely not. We’re created to thrive in community.
It means I must be connected to God and have Him in the proper place within my heart. Otherwise, my connection with myself and others will always be broken.
That’s how this three-year book journey began, as an eye-opening moment of truth that led to a freedom that even 45,000 words can’t fully explain. But I certainly tried.
And I believe wholeheartedly that it will bless you.
