Can I blow your mind regarding faith? Your faith is directly connected to your surrender. Go with me. If you place your trust in someone, you have to release any control you have and allow that person to live up to your expectations of them (or not). You cannot be with them every second of the day but must trust that their actions will line up with the words they have promised you. When it comes to God and the things of God, faith is ultimately our measure of trust in him.
God cannot use your gifts, talents, hopes, time, business or family unless you’re willing to fully surrender them to him. While that can be incredibly hard to do at times, it’s also incredibly worth it. And here’s why.
When we give God our faith, we can stand on his promises to us. We may not see the results immediately, just as you don’t see fruit the moment you plant seeds, but in due time it will spring forth.
In Isaiah 43:18-19, God promises us that he’s doing a new thing and NOW it springs up. It’s simply up to us to perceive it.
Isaiah 43:18-19 (ESV) reads:
18 “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old.
19 Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
What I love most about this scripture is how God says he is doing, which implies this “new thing” that he’s doing is continual. Life may not look or feel the way we want it to, but we must hang on to the promise that God is still doing a new thing. We must find the faith to see what may not be visible physically yet.
That hope and perception is what will continue to propel us towards God when life gets heavy and discouraging. And as we keep our focus and faith on Him, just as sure as seeds that are planted, fruit will eventually sprout in our lives.
Will you join me in forgetting the past and focusing on what God is doing in this present moment? Let’s take hold of God’s promise to make a way in the wilderness and provide for our needs.
